About Mike O'rourke
Prior to being elected Mayor, Michael O’Rourke served as a Lake Park Commissioner for four years, during which he helped to set policy on budgets, community development, stormwater, public works, recreation and community services.
Mayor O’Rourke currently serves as a board member on the Florida League of Mayors, a member of the Florida Redevelopment Agency, a committee member of the Florida League of Cities Resources, Utilities and Public Works Subcommittee, and a committee member of the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee. Previous memberships include the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce Environment and Sustainability Subcommittee, the Legislative Action Committee for the Palm Beach County North Chamber of Commerce and the Juvenile Justice Board of Palm Beach County, and he has served as Chair of the Regional Subcommittee for Palm Beach County Housing Summit, Northern Region and President of the Palm Beach County Youth Athletic Association.


Mayor O’Rourke has had his own law practice as a trial attorney for nearly two decades, prior to which he worked for the Assistant State Attorney for Palm Beach County as a prosecutor and division chief in county court and a trial attorney in circuit court. He has also utilized his expertise and experience as a civics, government and history teacher at Bright Futures Academy. Before attending law school, Mayor O’Rourke enjoyed a 12-year career in law enforcement in Westchester County, New York, followed by nearly a decade as a private security officer.
